Introducing the Tian Moxa Patch

By Todd Hsueh

“Traditional Chinese medicine has a proverb for “treating summer diseases in the winter time”. The purpose is to prevent common summertime ailments by treating it in the winter. The treatment period for this year falls between Dec 22, 2022 and March 13, 2022 for a total of 81 days. In terms of treatment protocol, acupuncture is performed on special points and a distinct ointment is applied. Traditionally, a herbal ointment would be applied to the skin and Moxi-bustion would be performed on top of it.

However, we have varying skin types here in North America and some may burn with the intensity of the traditional herbal concentrate. Therefore, I have modified the herbal ointment to ensure a milder herbal patch. I have replaced the Moxi-bustion with the infrared light I brought to stimulate these points. Ear acupuncture (Auriculotherapy) can also be added to further enhance treatment outcomes with this type of therapy. So when we reach summertime, the yin and yang are harmonized, and symptoms have decreased or even disappeared completely. Here are some illnesses that I’ve seen greatly benefit from this treatment: respiratory disorders such as allergies, chronic bronchitis, GI disorders such as GERD, hormonal disorders like dysmenorrhea and irregular periods, joint pain and insomnia."

Please note that there are no additional charges for the Tian Moxa Patch treatment. It can be added to an existing acupuncture booking.
